Art. 26. - Authorizing appropriation of funds to develop town's industrial resources.

  • WHEREAS, the Town of Sanford has excellent industrial resources which can be further developed by advertising the same and by the proper education of its citizens in respect to the proper development of such resources, which further development will be for the benefit of the citizens and taxpayers of said town: Now, therefore,

    The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

    Section 1. The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Sanford is hereby authorized and empowered to appropriate annually, from revenues received by the town from sources other than ad valorem and other taxes and not required by law to be used for designated purposes, an amount not to exceed the sum of twelve hundred dollars ($1,200.00), to be used for advertising and developing the industrial resources of said town, and particularly its undeveloped resources, and for the proper education of its citizens in respect to the development of such resources, which undertaking is hereby declared to be for a public purpose. The money so appropriated may be expended either directly by the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Sanford or through the facilities of such agency as the said board may select, and shall be used in such manner as will in the opinion of said board best serve the purposes herein set forth.

    Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

    Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
