§ 36-74. Speed limits on state highways.

  • When the council determines and declares, upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation conducted pursuant to authority contained in G.S. 20-141, that a certain speed limit is a safe and reasonable speed for the driving of vehicles on any street or portion of a street which constitutes a part of the state highway system within the city, and when the state highway commission adopts a concurring ordinance, and when authorized signs are in place giving notice of the speed limit, it shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle on the street or portion of street at a speed in excess of the speed so declared and posted.
