§ 18-63. Authority of fire personnel to summon aid.

  • (a)

    The officer in command of fire department personnel at the scene of a fire shall have authority to summon aid, and no able-bodied citizen so summoned may refuse help in extinguishing the fire or in protecting property.

    (b)

    During the continuance of any fire, the city manager and the chief and assistant chief of the fire department shall have authority to call on any citizen to render assistance in pulling down or demolishing any building, or in removing goods or furniture from a building on fire or in danger of fire to a place of safety. It shall be unlawful for any able-bodied citizen to fail to obey any such order given for such purpose.
